An Unfinished Place. Building Artistic Infrastructure in Central America brings together texts written by Virginia Perez-Ratton over a period of fifteen years (between 1995 and 2009), many of them difficult to access or that had remained unpublished until now. The author dissects her own professional work, unreservedly sharing her greatest expectations, but also her greatest sadness and frustrations regarding institutional management. Her writing is affective and passionate. Pérez-Ratton’s perspective is that of an artist who, in spite of everything, decided to take on the role of managing institutions and being a curator in order to radically change the conditions of artistic production in her own time.
