This volume collects essays articulated in a 2003 seminar held in TEOR/éTica. An exercise “in the topographical sense of collaboration” as defined by Nikos Papastergiadis and thanks to which participants from Australia, Scandinavia and Central America came together, regions that share their self-perception as peripheries but, paradoxically, do not see the other two as such. Who is more peripheral? Born in non-places, they met to find a sense of ‘place’ where there hasn’t been one: visible to the physical eye, of course, but especially visible to our own eyes, which, in many cases, have hovered over the surface of the immediate environment and turned, disoriented, towards the centers in search of guidance.
