LIVING MEMORY
Program 2024-2027
TEOR/éTica & Lado V – Center for Study and Documentation
This year TEOR/éTica celebrates twenty-five years of walking a wide and varied career surrounded by a multiplicity of people, artists, curators, managers and many organizations and institutions. TEOR/éTica is a constant construction that is always defined in relation to its local, regional and international context, and the people who make it up, that is why it is difficult to outline that wrap that has been woven by so many hands and composed of multiple threads. What is easy to say is how current its existence continues to be and the particularity of being an organization that thinks, that practices critical management and that starts from an ethical and political position to ask not only what it does but how it does it. .
When thinking about how to continue the project that TEOR/éTica and Lado V – Study and Documentation Center have been for twenty-five years, we are interested in focusing on the notion that we are and are constantly creating a LIVING MEMORY. This responds to a way of understanding ourselves as an organism, a body that remains in a state of question and experimentation, in the continuity allowed by the processes of learning, sharing and generating links. Being and making living memory implies keeping a look at the past to recover, learn, seek new readings and re-think what has been done, while working from a present to continue creating and supporting ways of doing in the contemporaneity of our context. We are interested in configuring this organization as a space/time that, through artistic practices, allows us to imagine and think about local and regional realities together with a multiplicity of agents.
Maintaining a living memory means strengthening a platform that is sustained through actions that reverberate together, such as study-documenting-sharing-cultivating relationships. In this way, we catalyze and intersect the multiple possibilities of our lines of action to create cross-pollinations, conversations, and continuity between the projects we propose and the people who participate in the construction of a memory that keeps breathing.
